New opportunity, a job, escape from problems in England
The colonies offered a chance at land or beginning a new life that England could not offer. At the very least there was a job available on plantations or as a laborer. People could also use it as a way to escape their life in England. Many petty criminals were offered a chance to leave England and begin a new life.
