In his analytic method of trying to empirically explain and explore basic dimensions of personality, motivation, and cognitive abilities, he figured out that there are 16 separate primary trait factors within the normal personality sphere which he dubbed the core traits of humans. The 16PF test is used to show the traits within people who take the test.
