Desalination is known as the process of removing mineral components from saline water. In easier terms to understand, you are removing salt and various other minerals from water. Desalination is usually used for human use or irrigation. Though this process is very useful in dry countries with a very little amount of rainfall, it can be very expensive. Desalinated water is actually much healthier than water received from rivers or from the ground. Hope that helped :))
