This seems like a Mathematics problem instead of Geography but no, (2, -3) is not a solution to y=x+5 because they would not equal each other if you plugged them in.

-3 does not equal 7

[tex] \bf (2,-3)~~
\begin{cases}
x=2\\
y=-3
\end{cases}\implies \stackrel{y}{-3}=\stackrel{x}{2}+5\implies -3\ne 7 [/tex]

since the equation does not equate, then nope, is not.
