What is the equation in point-slope form of the line that passes through the point (−1, −4) and has a slope of –3

Point-slope form:

y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)              "m" is the slope


You know:

m = -3

(x₁ , y₁) = (-1, -4)


So you can plug this into the equation:

y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)      

y - (-4) = -3(x - (-1)

y + 4 = -3(x + 1)
