A cube is a square shape with 6 sides.

Calculate the surface area of one side first.

The area of a square is Sides x side = 1/3 x 1/3 = 1/9 square cm's.

Now multiply the area of one side by 6 sides:

1/9 x 6 = 2/3

The surface area = 2/3 square cm's.
