The value of x is 5

Solution:

The slope of a line is given by formula:

[tex]Slope = \frac{ y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]

From given,

[tex]slope = \frac{11}4}\\\\(x_1, y_1) = (x, -7)\\\\(x_2, y_2) = (-1, 4)[/tex]

Substituting the values we get,

[tex]\frac{11}{4} = \frac{4+7}{-1-x}\\\\-11 - 11x = 11 \times 4\\\\-11-11x = 44\\\\11x = -11-44\\\\11x = 55\\\\x = 5[/tex]

Thus the value of x is 5
