It can be a good thing because your not in the mix, you do not have to worry about peer pressure. The downside could be being lonely, sad etc. My grandmother always used to say if you find one good friend in your lifetime you have won a prize. In the movie "Mean Girls" Kady joined a group that changed her a person and not in a good way she would have never turned out that way if she would have stayed an outsider.
