The basic life saving skills
Life saving skills are those skills gained by an individual to assist a victim in an emergency situation. Examples of emergency situations are:
- shock
- hemorrage or bleeding
- bites and stings
- burns
- asphyxia.
The basic skills necessary to to perform immediate life-saving treatment to these victims are:
- Ensure that the victim is removed from the accident scene to avoid further injury,
- Ensure that the airway of the victim is clear and that is breathing normal.
- If not breath is observed, apply cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Prepare to convey the victim to a health facility.
