The shape and size of nucleotides are important in the structure of double-stranded DNA because it allows DNA replication and protein synthesis to occur.

What is DNA?

This is referred to as deoxyribonucleic acid and contains the genetic instructions in organisms.

The double stranded shape and size allows for a copy of DNA to be made during reproductive processes. This is therefore the reason why DNA has such shape and size in this context.
