What was the origin of Mussolini's economic philosophy?
Italian politician and journalist Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini, who created and was the leader of the National Fascist Party, lived from July 29, 1883, until April 28, 1945. In addition to serving as "Duce" of Italian fascism from the founding of the Italian Fasces of Combat in 1919 until his death in 1945 by Italian partisans, he served as Prime Minister of Italy from the March on Rome in 1922 until his deposition in 1943. During the interwar period, Mussolini, the ruler of Italy and the major architect of fascism, encouraged and promoted the global growth of fascist movements.
As a "third path" between capitalism and socialism, Mussolini sought to establish a new economic order. Private property, competing employer-owned businesses, and the desire for profit are essential components of capitalism. In a socialist society, the people who work in the economic means of production—factories, farms, etc.—as well as the government, jointly own both. In order to eliminate capitalism, erect a workers' dictatorship, and distribute economic output "to everybody according to his needs," communism, a kind of socialism, advocates for a revolution.
