you subtract 2 on each side. so then it will be 2x=2. then you divide each side by 2 to get
x=1
.

2x+2=4 first you need to subt. 2 from both sides to cancel out the 2.
2x=4-2 now 4-2=2
2x=2 now you need to divide both sides by 2 to get x by itself
x=2/2 2 divided by 2=1
x=1
