Why does ice generally have very little friction when it is in contact with other materials?

Cant guarantee that this is the right answer, but it makes sense to me. Liquids generally dont have as much friction because theyre molecules arent packed as tight as solids and a lot of surfaces are warmer than ice, so the bottom of ice melts to water, making it more slippery and have less friction
