For starters, many Panamanians believed that when the US helped them gain independence, they were only doing it to profit and to colonize them for themselves. Other things include controversy about the Canal, and even the US invasion of Panama regarding the controversy about Manuel Noriega. Panama has historically had problems with the US so many still resent it today.
