I would say 4(y+6)=48 because of you substitute the parentheses it leads you to 4y+24=48 then you would subtract 24 to 48. The equation would look like 4y=24
Now you would divide 4y by 24 which would give you y=6

In the other one this is how the value would look

12(y+6)=48

12y+72=48

12y=-24

Y= -2

Which -2 is less than 6 so therefore 6 has a greater value.
