Harriet Martineau most import contribution to the field of sociology was that someone studying a society had to take in account every aspect of that society. The person had to know the religious, political and social profile of the group that they are studying. She argued that the knowledge of these correlations could determine wether inequality in a group existed. As a feminist, she also focused on the inequality faced by girls and women in a society.
