Based on the first paragraph of “ The Lottery”, it could be infer that it was a very nice day at the village because of the weather. It might be spring because of the blooming flowers and the green grass. AS regards the people, it could be argued that there were not many people at the village (300 people) and they were quite organized so they could do the lottery in only a couple of hours.
