Did Samuel de Champlain do anything bad or bad things, what were they?

Samuel de Champlain did do several things that would, by today's standards, be considered "bad things". Namely he battled with and killed several Native Americans during his explorations of North America. In addition, when a grown man, he consummated his marriage to a 12 year old girl, Helene Boullé.
