What would happen to the moon if Earth stopped exerting the force of gravity on it?

It would float away, due to the fact gravity doesn't have a grasp on it, it would float away and we wouldn't have a moonlit sky anymore

If the Earth stopped exerting the force of gravity on the moon, it would slingshot away from the earth, but because of the gravitational pull of the sun, it would eventually settle into a stable orbit around the sun.
